In January of 2009
I was diagnosed with breast cancer and within two weeks I was in the hospital for a bilateral mastectomy. The diagnosis was for the right breast but I had no hesitation choosing to have both removed. It was not long after the surgery that we learned the biggest obstacle to overcome was the financial burden and getting the treatment recommended without adequate insurance coverage.
I learned so much and summoned up more strength and resolve than I ever thought I had. My hope is that sharing some of my experiences and insight will help those of you who are just starting this journey.
